Taylor is Amara’s longest best friend! They met the day Amara was born. Taylor took her time to get to know baby Amara, and helped shape who she is as a person. They are best friends and love to spend time together. You can often find them at an event, giggling and whispering, shopping at Whole Foods, or at the steak house for their weekly sister dinners. Taylor’s husband is Richard, who Amara considers her brother. Taylor has two dogs Lucy and Murphy, and a cat Fig! Who is best friends with Amara and Khalil’s cat Pumpkin Pie! Taylor is currently working in an indigenous language revitalization program.
Ana and Amara met in Paris eight years ago when they were both doing a language immersion program. Ana was Amara’s house mate and soon to be best friend. Ana lives and works in Miami, and is an investigative journalist for the Miami Herald! You can often find Amara and Ana drinking wine and chatting for hours. Or living it up dancing the night away to reggaeton. Ana, being from Venezuela, taught Amara how to make arepas, which is one of Khalils favorite dishes that Amara makes for him.
Kay and Amara met six years ago, when her good friend Alex came to visit Palm Springs. Kay and Amara became fast friends. The week after they met Kay coincidentally came to San Francisco, where Amara was studying. Amara showed Kay all her favorite spots, and after that trip Kay asked Amara, “do you want to go to Saint Martin with me in 1.5 weeks?” And Amara said “yes that sounds fun”, the rest was history. Kay and Amara have been travel buddies ever since, going to places like: Turks and Caicos, Greece, Paris, Saint Martin, Spain, Miami, San Francisco, and Las Vegas. Kay works at Grayscale Investments on the fundraising division, and specializes in cryptocurrency. She also has an adorable dog Winnie.
Nour and Amara met during graduate school in Paris five years ago, and were instantly great friends. They can often be found accidentally wearing the same outfit in different colors. Nour is originally from Lebanon but was born and raised in Abu Dhabi. Nour’s Arab background was key in helping Amara to better understand Arab culture while dating Khalil. Nour and Amara have had numerous adventures all over the world, traveling together to: Iceland, Turkey, India, London, the Emirates, and all over Europe. Nour currently works at Serex International consultants as the marketing manager.
Something Blue in a wedding is an old American tradition. The saying goes: something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue. The something blue is thought to bring good luck. Amara has chosen to have her mother be her “something blue” stating: “My mom has always been my good luck charm. She has been my mom, my safe place, and everything in-between. I couldn’t image a better something blue!”
Younes is Khalil’s middle brother. The two share a close bond, often found playing virtual soccer on their PS5 or hitting the gym together. Whether it’s through friendly competition or just spending quality time, Younes has always been a strong support for Khalil, and is part of the reason Khalil chose to move in the first place.
Younes just had a baby girl named Amina (after their mom), and currently works as a project manager.
